Resumen:
The Land of Empty Houses : In post-twentieth-century America, Daniel, a cunning and courageous army ranger-though an AWOL one-finds himself policing a region as untamed as the nineteenth-century American West. A racist militia vies for power against vicious tribes, known by their self-descriptive names-the Heretics and the Cannibals. The ranger's attempts to enforce order find new meaning in his relationship with Deborah, a beautiful and intriguing missionary known as the "Pretty-Eyed One." Her miracle-working quest to bring light to a hopeless land faces its greatest test in the life-and-death struggle she wages with Daniel against a marauding assassin known only as "Robert." With on assurance of survival, she-and ultimately Daniel-is sustained only by her faith in the God who is still at work in the land.
