Still Standing : Aged nineteen Perry Cross broke his neck in a football accident and was left a quadriplegic. Since then he has never stopped pushing his limits. Just two years after Perry's accident he became Australia's first motivational speaker on life support. In 1997 he was named Suncorp Young Queenslander of the Year, and in 1999 he was a finalist for Young Australian of the Year. On a trip to New York he met Christopher Reeve, who asked him to act as his ambassador advocating for stem-cell research in Australia. Perry went on to meet the Prime Minister who, like everyone who meets Perry, was inspired by his words.
