Overview:
Max & Will : Max Beerbohm and William Rothenstein moved in sophisticated artistic circles; the letters they exchanged are sprinkled with names such as Wilde, Whistler, Yeats, Shaw, Gosse, Wyndham Lewis, Gordon Craig, Augustus John, Lytton Strachey. These two witty and articulate men, friends from their days at Oxford, wrote to one another on multifarious subjects - in particular their own and others' efforts in painting, caricature, drama, and prose, and the vagaries of the famous and infamous. A collection of 130 uninhibited letters provides new insight into the two men.
